Abrahamic Tradition in the Epistle to the Galatians
Original language description
The essay deals with the specific use of the Abrahamic tradition in the Epistle to the Galatians. In the contrast to the contemporary Jewish and partly Jewish-Christian tradition Paul is not concerned with a particular dimension of Abraham's story but with its universal meaning: Abraham is a paragon of a man of faith and not primarily a model of correct ethical behaviour in accordance with the Law. He opened for his followers in the faith the space of God's grace, fulfilled in Jesus Christ as the promised descendant.
