The article describes the characteristics of four main Lebanese Christian communities/Churches (Maronite, Greek-Orthodox, Greek-Catholic, and Armenian-Orthodox) taking into consideration the size of the community, geographical distribution in Lebanon andin the region, ethnical origin, cultural inclination and the language spoken, ecclesiastic tradition, international relating and history of political involvement. The description is given on the background of contemporary Lebanese political developmentscharacterised by political polarisation between the Sunnites and Shiites and their respective regional partners
