Anti-Arian Arguments in Iosif Volotskij's Polemic against the Judaizers
Original language description
This study seeks to determine the extent to which the polemic of Iosif Volotskij against the Judaizers' rejection of the Trinity and Christ's divine nature was informed by the anti-Arian arguments of the fourth century. More specifically, it examines Iosif's references to the main players in the Arian controversy - Alexander, Arius, Athanasius, and Emperor Constantine - and discusses the way he uses the genuine and spurious writings of Athanasius of Alexandria to serve his goals.
