The chapter speaks about the illnesses in postmodern democratic pluralistic societies from the sociological and psycho-political discourses and responds to them using the language of theology and spirituality. The chapters draws on those theological models within Orthodox spirituality which could help to fill out Bauman's analysis, and especially Han's analysis. At the same time, it takes into consideration my own context of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, especially the Czech context.
