Millennial Aspects of the Rastafari Movement

  • Original language description

Millennial consciousness has been crucial for the origins and early formation of the Rastafari movement in Jamaica since the 1930s up until the 1960s. Despite expectations that it would not last long, the Rastafari movement is now a global phenomenon that, however, has lost much of its initial millennial fervour and thus it is more fit to speak about millennial aspects of the movement than to conceptualize and label it "millennial".
