The Canon missae in the Rule of Ecclesiastical Services of Tobiáš Závorka Lipenský and Its Source

  • Original language description

This study identifies sources of the eucharistic prayer (canon missae) of the Rules of Ecclesiastical Services (Pravidlo služebností církevních, 1607) of Tobiáš Závorka Lipenský, an utraquist priest. It draws a close and detailed comparison between the Rule's prayer, the roman canon and the eucharistic prayer of the First Book of Common Prayer (1549). It persuasively demonstrates that the main source of Závorka's eucharistic prayer was the Latin translation of the eucharistic prayer of BCP, produced by Alexander Aless and published in 1551.
