Climate change and floods along the Brahmaputra: Migration factors in Bangladesh
Original language description
The relationship between environmental degradation and human migration has become the focus of interdisciplinary research within the last two decades. The Brahmaputra catchment in Bangladesh and north-east India is subject to extreme events exacerbated by climate change. These ressures are compounded by a combination of high population density, low adaptive capacity and high vulnerability of local communities. Our field research and observation identified environmental conditions as one of the most important factors in migration decision-making process of the local population in Bangladesh.
