The Dihydroindeno[2,1-c]fluorene Core: From Syntheses to Properties and Potential Applications
Original language description
In the last decade, substances possessing the dihydroindeno[2,1-c]fluorene scaffold show interesting photophysical properties and other potential applications in electronics. The aforementioned compounds belong to the family of five regioisomeric dihydroindenofluorenes, but unlike other ones, they possess angular or, in the case of higher congeners, helical shape. This review is mainly focused on various synthetic approaches to compounds possessing the dihydroindeno[2,1-c]fluorene scaffold and their conversions to other polyaromatic hydrocarbons. In addition, their physicochemical and photophysical properties, and current and/or potential applications are briefly described as well.
