    Yarkovsky/YORP chronology of asteroid families

  • Original language description

Asteroid families are the byproducts of catastrophic collisions whose fragments form clusters in proper semimajor axis, eccentricity, and inclination space. Our results help to verify that asteroid families are constantly undergoing dynamical orbital evolution from thermal (Yarkovsky) forces and spin vector evolution from thermal (YORP) torques.

  • Czech name

    Jarkovského/YORP chronologie asteroidélních rodin

  • Czech description

Rodiny asteroidů vznikají rozpadem mateřského tělesa a jsou identifikovány jako shluky těles a podobnými hodnotami velké poloosy, excentricity a sklonu dráhy. Naše výsledky potvrzují, že asteroidální rodiny podléhají permanentní difuzi díky tepelným jevům (Jarkovského a YORP jevu).
