Reduced oceanic seismic anisotropy by small-scale convection

  • Original language description

The paper deals with the effect of small-scale convection in oceanic asthenosphere on the magnitude of seismic anisotropy. The presented 3d models of mantle flow indicate that the strikingly small amplitudes of the horizontal anisotropy observed beneathoceans may be related to the presence of small scale thermal convection flows in the upper mantle
