Optimization of combined genetic gain and diversity for collection and deployment of seed orchand crops
Original language description
The level of genetic gain (genetic worth) of a seed orchard-s crop depends primarily on the genetic superiority of the selected parents. While the gene diversity of seed crops are greatly influenced by the magnitude of parental fertility variation amongthe orchard-s parental population. Theoretically, maximum genetic diversity is attained when all genotypes contribute equally to the seed crop while maximum gain depends on the proportionate contribution of high breeding value parents.
