Exploiting Charts in the MT Between Related Languages
Original language description
The paper describes in detail the exploitation of chart-based methods and data structures in a simple system for the machine translation between related languages. The multigraphs used for the representation of ambiguous partial results in various stagesof the processing and a shallow syntactic chart parser enable a modification of a simplistic and straightforward architecture developed ten years ago for MT experiments between Slavic languages in the system Česílko. The number of translation variants provided by the system inspired an addition of a stochastic ranker whose aim is to select the best translations according to a target language model.
