In this paper we are concerned with the numerical simulation of the interaction of compressible viscous fluid flow with an elastic structure in 2D. We discretize the equations representing the physical problem by the discontinuous Galerkin finite elementmethod (DGM). We describe the discretization by the DGM of both the fluid flow problem in a timedependent domain and the dynamic linear elasticity equations. Special attention is paid to the solution of the coupled fluid-structure interaction problem. The presented method can be applied to solve a selection of problems of biomechanics, aerodynamics and aviation, for instance the blood flow in human vessels, the airflow in vocal folds or the airflow around some object, such as a car, plane, bridge or abuilding. We present a numerical experiment of a flow through a 2D channel past a cylinder with an elastic beam.
