Introduction to photovoltaics and potential applications of group IV nanostructures
Original language description
In this introductory chapter we went back to basics of photovoltaic devices. By considering the limits of solar spectrum conversion efficiency in simple bulk semiconductor solar cells we demonstrated the needs for novel approaches often covered by the term ""third generation photovoltaics"". Finally, we summarized advantages of the Group-IV nanostructures in PV concepts for better exploitation of the solar spectrum.
