Vessel Currents During Asymmetrical Disruptions on COMPASS Tokamak

  • Original language description

Mechanical loads on the vacuum vessel strongly depend on the vessel currents magnitudes and distributions [Gerasimov et al., 2010, 2014]. The paper presents rst measurements of vessel currents in the COMPASS tokamak along with their poloidal and toroidal distributions. For the rst time simultaneous measurements of Halo currents and plasma current asymmetries are discussed. It is concluded that part of the plasma current is conducted to the vacuum vessel in poloidal direction during asymmetrical disruptions. Halo currents magnitude increases with plasma current and disruption speed. The latter eect is explained by signicant vertical movement of the plasma prior current quench. Experimental values of poloidal eddy currents are consistent with theoretical predictions described in Pustovitov [2017].
