JOREK Simulation of Strike Point Splitting Induced by HFS Magnetic Perturbation
Original language description
Strike point splitting experiment imposed by HFS RMP coils on the COMPASS tokamak was simulated using non-linear MHD code JOREK. The COMPASS discharge was simulated by reduced MHD model with parallel flows and diamagnetic drift. The set of vacuum perturbation fields has been calculated for each RMP coil separately. The plasma response is calculated with n = 0, 2 toroidal harmonics. Calculated magnetic perturbations are compared with the vacuum calculation. The experimental measurement of divertor strike-points was compared with both vacuum magnetic footprints and with magnetic footprints with included plasma response. The simulation results are found not to match experimental measurements. Possible problems in simulation settings and suggestions for future work are identified.
