Anisotropic hp-Mesh Adaptation Methods Theory, implementation and applications

  • Original language description

We summarize, unify, and extend our results that were published over the years in several journal papers. First, we derive computable estimates of interpolation errors which take into account the geometry of mesh elements as well as the anisotropic features of the interpolated function. These estimates are then used for the optimization of corresponding finite element spaces. We also focus on practical and implementation aspects of anisotropic hp-mesh adaptation, includingseveral algorithms. The performance of these adaptive techniques is demonstrated with numerical experiments.
