Dependence of foreshock structures on solar wind conditions
Original language description
The turbulent foreshock region upstream of the quasi-parallel bow shockis dominated by waves and reflected particles that interact with each other and createa large number of different plasma and magnetic field structures. Their creation isexpected to be connected with the interaction of incoming solar wind with particles andwaves in the foreshock region. Xirogiannopoulou et al. [2023] define and analyze threetypes of structures (plasmoids, SLAMS and mixed structures). In this work, we exploretheir connection with the solar wind parameters. We present a statistical analysis of theoccurrence rates of these structures both in the usual and extreme solar wind conditions. Weargue that the pristine solar wind does not affect directly the formation of these structuresand discuss how the aforementioned subsolar foreshock structures depend on the changesof the solar wind parameters inside the foreshock.
