Solving Plasma Dispersion Relation for Type III Solar Radio Bursts
Original language description
Using the numerical dispersion solver WHAMP, we aim to model theelectron beam instability generating Langmuir waves in the case of the Type III solarradio bursts observed by the Time Domain Sampler (RPW-TDS) on the Solar Orbiter.We solved the dispersion relation for the case of a fast electron beam propagating insolar wind plasma three beam velocities; and for both zero and non-zero angles betweenthe ambient magnetic field and the wavevector. Our results were successfully comparedwith textbook solutions. We also compared the wave polarisation obtained from thenumerical model and observed data which agreed with findings from other studies.
