Strangeness production at large rapidity in high-energy collisions

  • Original language description

The recent measurements by ALICE collaboration at LHC show that the strangeness production in high-energy and high-multiplicity collision is in agreement with the resonance gas model and this result is, to a large degree, independent on the collision settings. Indeed, it also applies to small systems, as proton-proton collisions, since it depends on hadron multiplicity. In fact, a universality in the strangeness hadronization emerges by considering a specific dynamical variable corresponding to the initial entropy density of the collision, taking into account the effective transverse size of the initial configuration in high multiplicity events. On this physical ground, we evaluate the strangeness production at large rapidity in high-energy collisions. The yields of strange hadrons in forward direction are depleted with respect to their values at mid-rapidity, although in high energy scatterings the difference starts to be clear at very large rapidity. The consequences for the solution of the muon puzzle are discussed.
