Knowledge of laser beam fluence distribution is crucial for beam applicationslike studies of laser induced damage threshold and laser-matter interaction phenomena.We characterized fluence distributionsJ/cm2of a focused non-Gaussian laser beam(λ = 438 nm) using a combination of ablation imprints method and far-field imaging. Theablation imprints method enables precise characterization of the low-fluence tails of thebeam, while far-field imaging provides high-resolution mapping of the fluence peak. Bycombining these complementary techniques, we obtained fluence distributions with bothhigh spatial resolution and large dynamic range. We can therefore measure the peak fluenceand the ratio of laser pulse energy in the laser beam peak and tails more accurately than byusing each method separately
