The aim of this diploma thesis is to present the significance of the memory traces preserved in the books that were confiscated from the Jewish inhabitants of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia during the Second World War and the possibilities of their research. The theoretical part of the thesis provides a comprehensive overview of the roles of books in the Jewish tradition, the importance of memory traces for the owner of the book, and the process of confiscation of Jewish books in the Protectorate. The thesis is supplemented by the results of research conducted on 105 books of Moravian provenance that were confiscated from their Jewish owners during the war, including a detailed analysis of the memory traces found in them.
