This bachelor thesis explains the complexity of the concept of ""Jewish identity"" in the context of the Czech Republic, and depicts the relationship of Czech Jews to religion, traditions, Hebrew, and the state of Israel. It presents how the situation in the Czech Republic is specific. At the beginning of the thesis, the themes of ethnic identity, discrimination, economic anti-Semitism, and the influence of religion on the formation of an individual's identity are outlined. To better understand the current situation, the history of Jews in the Czech lands is briefly described, along with the long and complex history of persecution and persecution. The historical excursion is followed by a description of the current situation in the Czech Republic, which is also related to the specifics of today's Jewish population. The last part outlines the relationship of the majority society to the Jewish culture and community, which is related to the manifestations of anti-Semitism and the presence of prejudices and stereotypes. The thesis presents a holistic view of the contemporary Jewish community and its specificities. It contributes to a better understanding of Jewish identity and the Jewish community by the majority, which may contribute to the elimination of some prejudices and stereotypes about Jews in the Czech Republic.
