The chapter analyzes selected interjections expressing astonishment in Czech dialects. It describes interjections reflecting the names of three central biblical figures: God, Jesus and Mary, mother of Jesus (e.g. Czech božínku, ježíškote, šmarjá, English God’s sake, oh Jesus, Holy Mary). Attention is also paid to phonological and morphological variability of these interjections caused by their taboo status.
