This thesis deals with challenges and solutions in the organization and sharing of language data in the digital age, with a special emphasis on European repositories and their metadata schemes. The introductory part highlights the importance of organizing and sharing language data in the context of digitization and growth of research data, after which the Basic Terms chapter explains key concepts: research infrastructures, repositories, and metadata and metadata schemas. The central part of the thesis is a description of the three most important European repositories of language data, resources and tools.
