Original language description

This contribution covers two aspects of Applied Linguistics: the role of linguistic theory in building historical corpora and the use of corpus data for the validation of historical linguistic theories. The state of the art will focus more on corpus linguistic principles than on particular corpora, tools or languages, and more on (morpho)syntax than on other linguistic levels.
