The article is based on a bachelor‘s thesis that focuses on the phenomenon of museum fatigue and its relationship to visitor attention. The issue of museum fatigue is set within a broader theoretical framework in which factors that influence visitors‘physical and psychological fatigue, such as the length of the exhibition, the layout of the space or the way information is presented, are identified. Particular attention is paid to the mechanisms of sustaining attention during a museum visit, and the paper analyses how different museum approaches to exhibit design and interactivity can support this attention. At the same time, it explores the broader contexts that influence the way museum exhibitions are organized and presented. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
