The poster describes an ongoing research focusing on cultural and gender aspects of mathematics word problems (similar focus can be found e.g. in Nasir, Hand, Taylor 2008) and strategies used for solution of culturally non-standard word problems. Word problems as they are presented in Czech textbooks of mathematics tend to present many stereotypes and the images of female and male worlds and roles in these assignments are often defined very rigorously and stereotypically.
