Physical performance related to the participation in sport and physical activities and changes in the last thirteen years in Czech youth
Original language description
Study examines the development of somatic indices and physical performances in current 10 - 19 year old Czech youth (N = 4199) and compares them with their counterparts of 13 years ago. The results confirmed the increase of body fat and the decrease of physical fitness during the last thirteen years. The dynamic endurance ? strength ability of abdominal and iliopsoas muscles the (sit-ups per 60s) was an exception. The biggest decrease was found in the aerobic ability of young people (20m shuttle run). Positive links between the levels of participation in sport through the cohorts of COMPASS categories and physical performances in spite of a different speed of physical development in respondents in all applied motor abilities tests were identified.
