The place and role of Olympism in higher education
Original language description
The article describes two different approaches in incorporation of Olympism into the curricula at Czech universities. The first proclaims Olympism as a separate subject in the curricula of training of professionals in physical education and sport. The second approach includes themes of Olympism in the curriculum as part of academic disciplines like philosophy, sociology, ethics, aesthetics, etc. Universities would also focus part of its research and training capacity on the current issues of the OlympicMovement. Without the implications of ideas and principles of Olympism, it is not possible to assess the sport and society in the 20th and 21 century.
