Original language description
The aim of chapter is the analysis and synthesis of the current status of physical and sports education at school and its comparison with the vision of its status in the future. In current well - being of Czech youngsters the sedentary activities: computers, video games/ mobile phone; watching TV / videos prevail. The participation of Czech youth in sports and physical activities over the last 15 years has not much changed, but cannot compensate the increasing influence of these sedentary ones. The prevalence of overweight and obesity is not favorable. In 11-year-old boys it is 21%, in girls 16 % and among 13-year-old youngsters it is 16% in boys and 12% in girls. The physical performances of Czech children and youth, especially their aerobic capacity,decrease. In current practice (since 2007, in primary schools and 2009 in secondary schools) the PE subject formed part of the educational umbrella "Man and Health".
