  • Original language description

Dancing is a growing method used to engage people with dementia in drawing on past interests through reminiscence and pleasurable activity. Many of the dance interventions aim to reduce depression, agitation or distress in people with dementia and/or carer burden, usually within a care home setting. The chapter introduces dancing as an effective prevention of falls, enhancement of movement and consequently of the body strenght. Further it introduces EXDASE (Exercise Dance for Seniors), its key accents and implementantion possibilities, and it concludes with two case studies.
