Metabolic Flexibility to Predict Lifestyle Interventions Outcomes (MEPHISTO): Protocol for Predictive Validation Study and Randomized Controlled Trial

  • Original language description

This study aims to identify predictive factors for successful weight loss in women with obesity following a structured exercise intervention. Using a two-stage analytical design, including a randomized cross-over trial, the research explores the role of metabolic flexibility, insulin sensitivity, and gut microbiome in predicting fat mass reduction. Preliminary results are expected by 2026 and may inform future personalized lifestyle interventions for obesity and T2D prevention.
