    Body Height Development Among Successful Elite Tennis Players (2004–2023)

    Ga me performa nce is influenced by soma tic factors such as body height. The a im of this study is to exa mine the developmental trend of body height in elite male a nd female tennis players a t Gra nd Sla m tourna ments between 2004 a nd 2023. The resea rch sa mple consisted of players who reached the qua rterfinals of Gra nd Sla m tourna ments from 2004 to 2023. The results showed a n overall trend of increasing body height a mong male players who reached the qua rterfinals of Gra nd Sla ms. However, the differences between individual Gra nd Sla ms (surfaces) in the most recent period (2019-2023) were found to be sta tistically insignifica nt a nd negligible. In women, the results were more va ria ble, a nd no simila r trend of increasing body height a mong successful players could be observed as seen in men. This study provides insights into the development of physical tra its in the best tennis players, which influence their performa nce. The da ta obta ined shows developmental trends recognized by tennis experts a nd may be useful for coaching prac-tice in elite tennis, potentially also in the selection of young tennis talents.
