Olfactory bulbectomy increases methamphetamine i.v. self-administration in rats

  • Original language description

The rats with olfactory bulbectomy (OB rats) show behavioural and endocrine changes resembling those found in human depression. From clinics depressive patients are reported to be more vulnerable towards a consumption of drugs of abuse. Our results confirm the suggestion that OB rats also incline to a greater intake of methamphetamine using the animal model of "i.v. drug self-administration".
