Baroreflex sensitivity, blood pressure and heart rate variability in children and adolescents after anthracycline treatment.

  • Original language description

Age related changes of systolic (SBP) and diastolic (DBP) blood pressure, mean cardiac interval (PI) and baroreflex sensitivity in ms/mmHg (BRS) and in Hz/mmHg (BRSf) after anthracycline treatment were monitored. The values of 20 children treated with anthracyclines were compared with those treated with a non-anthracycline medication (16 patients) and 177 health controls. The age-dependent increase of SBP, DBP, PI and the decrease of BRSf were observed in all groups. The age-dependent increase of SBP wasdecelerated in children treated with anthracycline.
