Effect of Ajmaline on Action Potential and Ionic Currents in Rat Ventricular Myocytes with Focus on Transient Outward Current
Original language description
We conclude that ajmaline is a potent blocker of IK(ATP), INa and Ito. In rat ventricular myocytes, block of INa is responsible for the decrease in upstroke velocity and the decline in AP amplitude. The main determinant of AP prolongation is block of Ito. Ajmaline is an open state blocker of Ito with fast recovery kinetics manifested in frequency independence of block.
