New Maple solution of the generalized Leibniz problem

  • Original language description

The book Solving Problems Using Maple and MATLAB is describing how to use computer algebra and numerical computing software packages for solving various mathematical, technical, economic and physical problems. The generalized Leibniz tractrix problem iscomputed in the first chapter of the book. The orbit of a toy pulled by a child, and the orbit of a dog which attacks a jogger is solved using MATLAB only. The innovative approach to efficient solving these problems in Maple enables its package DEtools. We show simple numerical solving differential equations and their visualization of above problems appropriate e.g. for teaching mathematical modeling at technical universities. This is better solution than one presented in our book, where motions are visualized by MATLAB.
