Original language description
Backround: Cyclic strabismus is a rare form of acquired strabismus with onset in early childhood. It is characterized by a regular change of a big esotropia and parallel position of the eyes, mostly in 24-48 hrs cycle. The mechanism that underlies the phenomenon is unknown. The incidency of this disease in literature is 1:3-5000 cases. Methods: We report 2 cases of this rare form of strabismus, which we had the opportunity to observe in our department. In both cases, typical signs of this misalignment were seen, which include: sudden onset of strabismus in the 3rd - 4th year of life, regular change of a big deviation and parallel eye state in 24/48 hrs cycle. Results and conclusion: Our paper documents variable and unpredictable course of the disease and advocates for individual approach.
