Prevalence of personal protective equipment (PPE)-related injuries among Czech and Slovak healthcare professionals
Original language description
Skin damage has drastically increased among healthcare professionals (HCPs) using personal protective equipment (PPE) in the last two years, resulting in serious complications. Since the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak, frontline HCPs, who have been taking care of patients infected by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus – 2 (SARS-CoV-2), were obliged to spend most of their working hours using PPE. PPE encompasses a variety of devices including protective filtering respirator such as a N95 mask, eye protection, e.g. glasses, fitted facial shields and/or protective suits, which are specially designed to minimize exposure to hazards that cause serious workplace injuries and illnesses.
