Pregnant living women in Brno who were contacted for the first time at 18th week of their pregnancies during the period from February 1990 to January 1992 were involved into the ELSPAC group. Among others, the exposure to different occupational factors in the three periods was obtained by the self-reported questionnaire: 1 to 9 months before pregnancy, 2.the first, and 3 second trimester periods. The women health status during pregnancy, the history of delivery and the developmental and health status ofnewborns were described in details by obstetrics and pediatrics according to another internationally unified questionnaire. All data obtained from 3897 pregnant women living in Brno were computered. Smoking women were significantly more often non-smokers occupationally exposed to ergonomic stressors associated with the monotony work, and to chemical substances.

Czech description

Do souboru ELSPAC byly zahrnuty těhotné ženy žijící v Brně, které byly poprvé kontaktovány v 18. měsíci těhotenství v období od února 1990 do ledna 1992. Mezi jinými byla z dotazníku vyplňovaného ženou samou získána data o expozici rozličným faktorům spojeným se zaměstnáním ve třech obdobích: 1 až 9 měsíců před otěhotněním, v prvním trimestru a ve druhém trimestru těhotenství. Podle jiného mezinárodně unifikovaného dotazníku byl porodníky a pediatry podrobně popsán zdravotní stav žen v průběhu těhotenství, průběh porodu a vývojový a zdravotní stav novorozenců. Data, získaná od 3897 žen žijících v Brně, byla počítačově zpracována. Kuřačky byly významně více než nekuřačky v zaměstnání vystaveny ergonomickým stresorům spojeným s monotónní prací, a byly více vystaveny chemickým látkám.
