Original language description

The work aims to contribute to the cultural context of the operation of pharmacies run by the Hospitaller Order of St John of God. The study is focused on the reconstruction of the composition of reference libraries in selected pharmacies included in the former Hungarian Order Province (established in 1856) of Brothers Hospitallers. Outcomes are based on the study of preserved archive materials regarding the operation of pharmacies (inventories, accounting books) from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.
