A contribution to the history of pharmaceutical quality control: comparative analysis of selected pharmacopoeial requirements
Original language description
Pharmacopoeias as mandatory professional standards for quality control and assurance of pharmaceutical preparations included requirements on laboratory reagents and tools that were always integral parts of pharmacy practice. This study aims to contribute to the historical development of drug quality control in pharmacies and its material-technical background. The main sources to conduct this study were used selected pharmacopoeial publications valid in the former Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and one of its successor states, Czechoslovakia. The comparison was based on pharmacopoeial chapters focused on reagent apparatus included in the Austrian Pharmacopoeia, 8th edition (1906), Hungarian Pharmacopeia, 3rd edition (1909), and Czechoslovak Pharmacopeia, 1st edition (1947).
