The Aural-Visual 'Symbiosis' in the Poetry of Publilius Optatianus Porfyrius (Towards the Disentanglement of the Mystery of Late-Ancient Expansive Grid-Verse)

Original language description

The paper deals with the work of Publilius Optatianus Porfyrius, a relatively unknown late-ancient author of figured poetry. The poet's collection is first introduced in the context of the development of the literary genre of visual poesy from its very beginnings up to the present day. The meaning and significance of Optatianus's figured compositions is then commented on in terms of their content and especially with regard to their strikingly ingenious and innovative formal conception. Last but not least, the article also includes an analysis of Optatianus's dateless notion of and his skilful treatment of the language system in comparison with the modern linguistic theories of structuralism and post-structuralism.

Audio-vizuální symbióza v díle Publilia Optatiana Porfyria (Na cestě k rozuzlení záhady pozdně-antické expanzivní mřížkové poezie)

Příspěvek pojednává o básnické sbírce Publilia Optatiana Porfyria, relativně málo známého pozdně-antického autora figurální poezie. Optatianovo dílo je nejprve představeno v kontextu vývoje daného literárního žánru od jeho počátků až do současnosti. Význam a poselství Optatianových figurálních skladeb je dále analyzováno z hlediska jejich obsahu a zejména s ohledem na jejich neobyčejně důmyslnou a inovativní formální koncepci. V neposlední řadě článek obsahuje rovněž rozbor Optatianovy nadčasové koncepce jazykového systému, a to ve srovnání s příslušnými lingvistickými teoriemi strukturalismu a post-strukturalismu.
