International conference entitled "Early European Languages in the Eyes of Modern Linguistics" was organized by the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research into Ancient Languages and Early Stages of Modern Languages at Masaryk University in Brno (MSM 0021622435). The conference was held under the patronage of the rector of Masaryk University, professor Petr Fiala, and the dean of Masaryk University, professor Josef Krob, at the Mendel Museum and the Augustinian Abbey of Saint Thomas. The four-day colloquium was divided into sessions covering themes from Latin and Greek, Romance, Germanic, and, last but not least, from Slavonic linguistic studies. More than 50 papers were presented by both the linguists working at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Researchinto Ancient Languages and Early Stages of Modern Languages and the linguists from universities in Bratislava, Prague, Vienna, Wroclaw, Lund, Amsterdam, Padua, Rome, Newfoundland, Riga, Regensburg, Munich, Budapest, Oxford, Ljubljana, an

Mezinárodní konference "Early european Languages in the Eyes of Modern Linguistics" byla zorganizována v rámci výzkumného záměru Středisko pro interdisciplinární výzkum starých jazyků a starších fází jazyků moderních (MSM 0021622435) při Ústavu klasických studií Filozofické fakulty Masarykovy univerzity pod patronací rektora MU, prof. Petra Fialy, a děkana FF MU, prof. Josefa Kroba. Konference se konala v prostorách Mendelova muzea a augustiniánského opatství sv. Tomáše. Jednotlivé sekce byly během 4 dnů konání konference věnovány latinské a řecké lingvistice, dále jazykům románským, germánským a v neposlední řadě také jazykům slovanským. Bylo předneseno přes 50 příspěvků, a to jak lingvisty zapojenými ve výzkumném záměru, tak lingvisty z univerzit v Bratislavě, Praze, Vídni, Wroclawi, Lundu, Amsterdamu, Padově, Římě, Newfoundlandu, Rize, Řezně, Mnichově, Budapešti, Oxfordu, Ljubljaně a dalších. Jednacími jazyky byly angličtina, němčina, francouzština a italština.
