Original language description
The paper deals with formal inspirational sources and the background of fresco works of Franz Eckstein (1689?-1741). Although Eckstein's artistic education was not reliably clarified yet, his works reflect influence of the works of the Roman and Bolognese school of painting. As was stated many times before, Eckstein's biggest source of inspiration was the work of Andrea Pozzo (1642-1709). From the preserved Eckstein's works, the utilization of the popular Paul Decker's handbook is also evident. The survey of the most important inspirational sources is amended with an analysis of their utilization, especifically on the example of the fresco painting in the Chapel of Pernštejn Castle (1716). The article points out the fact that among the further Eckstein's sources of inspiration was also the fresco work of the painter's stepfather Michael Halbax (1661?-1711), whose influence on Eckstein's formation has been mentioned so far only in general statements.
