The Havlík Pattern and Directional Lower
Original language description
Although a well-known pride of Slavic phonology, the Havlík pattern did not contribute to the generative analysis of vowel-zero alternations in the past. Following Rubach (1984:190), we have tried to show that the parametric variation between the Lower and the Havlík pattern requires a view of the classical Lower rule that is directional: Lower must apply from right to left.
