Dar al-Islam, Dar al-harb and Hijra: Classical Paradigms in Modern Arab World.
Original language description
The chapter demonstrates that unlike Christianity and Judaism, Islam still operates with indigenous and vital set of political (ideological) paradigms and uses quite different tools and means, which allow it to constitute its political programs. Probablythe most relevant concepts are the classical geopolitical division of the entire world into dar al-islam (abode of Islam) and dar al-harb (the abode of war)and religiously motivated emigration (hijra). Both concepts form highly vital issues in Islamic political theory incorporated in the still living system of Islamic law.
