Explicitation of Causality in Periphrastic Constructions with Human Causees: The Case of "Make" and "Cause"
Original language description
The chapter looks into the structure of causative situations encoded by means of periphrastic constructions employing the verbs "make" and "cause". It focuses on causative situations with human causees and demonstrates that owing to the involvement of the causee's inner self causation in "make" has a compelling character. Being mute about the causee's involvement, "cause" presents the causative situation in a bare, skeletal form.
