Growing up in a Moravian village in the second half of the eighteenth century
Original language description
The purpose of this paper is to explore lives of children and young adults in a Moravian village in the second half of the eighteenth century and analyse factors which influenced their future. The years following after a child had left their home tendedto be the most dynamic in life. Girls usually started a career as domestic or rural servants. Boys worked in farms, learned crafts, travelled as journeymen to gain experience and were enlisted into the army. Moreover, a minority of young people did not conform to the rules of society and became beggars and wanderers.
